JOEP JANSSEN

VSSL is a hypnotic live VJ performance and installation that blends electronic music with the ancient art of weaving, paying tribute to craftsmanship and the rituals of connection—rituals that still echo in subcultures like nightlife.

The work focuses on illuminated vertical weaving threads, shifting under blue light to create hypnotic visuals. Generative weaving techniques are synchronized with a pulsating electronic soundscape, resulting in a performance where rhythm and texture continuously evolve. In VSSL, spectator, work, and weaver merge, blurring the boundaries between sound, image, and craft into a meditative ritual.

Joep Janssen, also known by his artist name Splinter, is a contemporary artist and performer exploring the interplay of culture, sound, image, and human connection. Rooted in personal experience and immersive installations, his work transforms fragments of the past into new realities.
