How long does it take for salt to [ ] is an immersive installation that reconstructs salt formation processes in an artificial setting. Environmental factors—temperature, airflow, lighting, and number of visitors—interact to shape the crystallization patterns, accelerating a transformation that typically unfolds over millennia into days.
Particular focus in the installation is on human perception in the fast-paced contemporary life dynamic, the forces shaping our planet, and the slow yet powerful processes that govern life and the Earth itself. The outcome remains unpredictable, mirroring the delicate balance of control and spontaneity in nature and art.
Albina N is a multidisciplinary artist and writer whose practice revolves around the investigation of relationships between human and nature in current times of ecological crisis, climate anxiety, and capitalist, media-driven society. This is evident in her approach to building narratives, visual allegories, and metaphors. Often, it happens through the mediums of sculpture and installation, where the viewer is presented with a certain situation. Other times, it is achieved through a medium of writing and bookmaking. With a hands-on, and process-oriented approach she looks for ways of sustainable art-making such as implementation of natural materials, found objects, and bio-plastics.
Her theoretical research is focused on natural phenomena, with recent attention to anomalies, mutation, biotechnology, and marine biology. The repetitive motif in Albina’s work is the replication of natural processes like decay, formation, and mutation.
